It's like a first-class cabin experience at the check-in counter.

Your Paraiso Maya wristband is put on and just like that you have the run of a four-hotel Iberostar complex that sprawls across the beach and is connected by walkways and swimming pools. Paraiso Maya is an all-inclusive resort. So from the moment that wristband snaps on, you can eat and drink without reaching for a bill, a credit card or even a hotel slip.

P.B. Dye definitely kept the average resort golfer in mind on this one. He watched one golf writer shoot a two-over 74 on preview day from the back tees and seemed to love every minute of it.

And you thought every Dye was a merciless monster?

One of the things that will make this course unlike any you've seen before are the cenotes - essentially gaping sink holes where twisted trees have grown.

And you don't want to miss No. 8, which looks like a BMX bike track from the tees with its series of small, sharp hills.
